This year I had some of my work in a photographic exhibition at the Tarporley Gallery and I decided that I would give the proceeds of any work sold to the Cheshire Search and Rescue – Cheshire SAR. A big thank you to David at Tarporley Gallery too for hosting the photographic exhibition,
My portfolio of work features the countryside and I am only too aware when out hill walking how many times people need help from the search and rescue organisations when accidents happen. The search and rescue teams are all self funded and not everyone in Cheshire is aware we have such a team in our county.
They go out in all weathers, all volunteers – any time of the day or night when the need arises, to aid in a rescue or search for a missing person. Recently when we had the bad snow they were out in the Macclesfield area helping motorists who had become stranded in the extreme weather.
Tonight I met up with the team at one of their training nights and some of the members were more than happy to talk and have their photo taken with me handing over a cheque for their funds.
Please next time you see a Search and Rescue team collecting – please give them your small change as every donation is welcome or you can also donate by visiting their web sites too !
